With The ammount of pupils asking for a reminder of the routines we use, I decided to make a list here for you to check or print out. We use routines to keep things in order, so for example, we don't turn around a corner and then look in the mirrors.
Before we can start to drive we need to adjust the interior of the car so we can reach all the controls and see clearly to the rear of the car. The routine we are going to use here is DSSSM or;
- Door
- Seat
- Steering wheel
- Seatbelt
- Mirrors
The next routine we use is to move away from the kerb which we call POM or:
- Prepare
- Observe
- Move
For more information on the POM routine, follow this link
We then need to know how to stop and move back to wards the kerb, the routine we now use is MSM or:
- Mirror
- Signal
- Manoeuvre
To turn left or right from a major road to a minor road we then expand the MSM routine to MSPSL or:
- Mirror
- Signal
- Position
- Speed
- Look
For more information on the MSPSL routine, follow this link
To approach a T Junction we can the add the routine LADA to the end of our MSPSL routine or:
- Look
- Assess
- Decide
- Act
